The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception 2025

Mary being immaculately conceived fulfills the prophecy we hear from our first reading in Genesis: “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers.”  This enmity becomes reality when Mary’s existence is not touched by the contagion of sin.   All by God’s Grace and Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, applied retroactively through time.  Jesus keeps his mother free from Satan’s grasp, this mother from whom he will assume his very humanity.  What Son, if he had the opportunity to design his own mother, wouldn’t keep her free from original sin and fallen human nature?  We, Christ’s brothers and sisters, can rejoice in having that same mother.  A mother most pure.  A mother full of grace.  A mother who always points us to her son and his strike on the serpent’s head.
